سوء مصرف کتامین: پدیده‌ای نوظهور در ایران

Abstract:
Drug abuse is unfortunately on the rise probably due to easier access and lack of sufficient control and protective measures. A case in point is ketamine, basically an anesthetic agent taken via injection. The drug is abused mainly because it has a hallucinogenic effect. It is frequently used in parties along with several other drugs and alcohol particularly by young people. Individuals who abuse ketamine, experience floating sensations, out-of-body experiences, hovering in a weightless condition, and illusions. Other than dependence and a few other mental consequences, chronic abuse of the drug might seriously damage bladder and other urinary tracts, necessitating cystectomy (bladder removal) in acute cases. The aim of the present study is to provide early warning of possible future increases in ketamine abuse hoping for informing on the gravity of associated impacts. Some preventive measures have been proposed to reduce the likelihood of ketamine abuse in young people.
